Cahuita & Puerto Viejo Costa Rica
Cahuita national park
Cahuita is located in the south-east part of Costa Rica, at the Caribbean side. When visiting Cahuita you there are many things that you can do. The national park has a beautiful beach, perfect for snorkeling, diving and surfing. Also, you can take a trip to the indigenous reserves, rent a bike or go horseback riding. The town is very laid back so it is a good place to go and relax too.
Puerto Viejo
Not far from Cahuita, more to the south, you can find Puerto Viejo. The black sand beach is a big attraction for divers, because of the coral reef. But, there is more to do then just diving at the beach of Puerto Viejo, you can relax and enjoy the sun, go swimming, surfing, rent a bike and join in on one of the parties at night.
Prices and transportation
When going to Cahuita with the public bus, you will have to pay about US $6 and it will take around 4 hours to get there. Puerto Viejo is located approximately 4 ? hours away from San Jose with a public but and will also cost you about US $6. In both Cahuita and Puerto Viejo you can find numerous hotels and hostels to stay at, starting at a price of about US $10-$15 per night.
