Rincón de la Vieja translates to old woman´s corner. The name stems from an old story. The story tells about two tribes of indians who were fighting over the land. During a period of dryness the chief´s daughter fell in love with a boy from the other tribe. The chief was obviously not happy with the fact that his daughter was dating his enemy and decided to capture the boy. After he captured him, he threw the boy in the volcano as an offer to the gods.
